Why Is Elon Funding The Agitators?
In 2017, everyone got to know a group called the “Boogaloo Bois”, who seek to incite a civil war. In 2020, we saw that sometimes they show up opportunistically at other protests.
We also know that undercover police join protests and solicit crimes. So whatever you believe about protest methods, and whatever you believe politically, we do know that there are outside agitators that basically seek and amplify violence full time no matter what else is going on.
On Twitter we see a lot of activity like that, a lot more than we saw in 2020. Two things have changed since then. One is the Israel-Hamas war. The other is that Elon bought the website.
He’s frequently given credit for flooding the site with nazis as a result of this. But he complains about “the woke mind virus” so much, we forget that he’s choosing not to ban these other accounts on the left either. He’s cultivating the terror-solicitation accounts as a way of motivating the far right and provoking street violence.
In October of 2024, Marco Rubio called for an investigation of one such full-time incitement group, an extreme example called Unity Of Fields. The DOJ still hasn’t done anything about that eight months later. But worse, now Elon won’t even ban it.
As of this writing, some days into the LA protests with the burnt Waymos, the account is monetized. One recent monetized post showed off some graffiti from the protest site that said “Al Aqsa Flood”.
Why is Elon not only protecting, but paying for content like that? We may never get an answer. The Afrikaans word for “boogaloo” cannot be pronounced.
